Walking by Faith
By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish.. Hebrews 11:31
Few things about her faith. First, her faith condemns many
because she had faith with such little spiritual advantage,
while many in every age with more spiritual advantage have less
faith or no faith. Second, Rahab had to walk alone. Those who
have faith will often find themselves standing alone. Third, "I
know that the Lord hath given you the land" (Joshua 2:9). Faith
makes us certain. Rahab was convinced that God would give Canaan
to Israel. Fourth, "The Lord your God, he is God in heaven
above, and in earth beneath" (Joshua 2:11). This confession
about God showed the quality of Rahab's faith. What you think of
God reveals the character of your faith.
"Rahab perished
not with them that believed not" (Hebrews 11:31). Rahab did not
perish in Jericho even though those around her did. Faith
protects, but lack of faith does not. This is a picture of the
Gospel. Faith in Jesus Christ protects from Divine judgment, but
lack of faith does not. Unbelief sends one to hell for eternity.
